Almost done with the interior.

Winter has not been helpful for boat building. Going into a cold, dark garage after a day of work to sand has not been intriguing.  I found I could only handle about an hour at a time before I was over getting covered in epoxy dust.  Much of it was hand sanding, and bending over to work down inside the boat was too much like work, so I just didn't do it all that often.  Then the Olympics started and watching that pretty much took up my evenings.  Little by little I've gotten the sanding done with a few other things as well.

I beveled the gunwales.

I ripped a short piece of scrap cedar to make some supports for the center thwart.

Then epoxied them in place.  I don't have any clamps with a long enough clamp the pieces that spread the thwart load over the side panel, so I just rested some weight on them at the lower end.

I had squeeze-out, so I figure it worked. Also did the additional support pieces along the centerboard case.

Then I cut and epoxied in the little bits that are used to drop a board in for a foot brace while rowing.  The plans suggest placing the center notch at 2' 3 1/2" from the thwart for a typical sized male.  I am not, so I subtracted an inch.  With 3 options for placement, I figure one will work.

I also made the bench seat supports

I picked up some sassafras a couple of weeks back to make the seats, although I may not get around to them for a while.  The next job is to finish up the support frame for the center thwart and then paint.  Part of the reason I haven't been worrying about the pace of my work is that with the cold temps, I didn't want to deal with painting.  The epoxy will cure in a reasonable time even given the cold, but I'm not so confident in the paint.
